Watch The Quirky Trailer For Australian Indie Girl Asleep,

It's been a long run but successful festival circuit run that started at Berlin Film Festival now Rosemary Myers' Girl Asleep is heading to cinemas. Today we get a new look  quirky Australian coming of age comedy drama with the American trailer.thanks to Oscilloscope Labs. Check it out...

Whilst the premise and plot set up might be very familiar , the Wes Anderson /Napoleon Dynamite tone to it which is attracting many folks to the film. We've all been there when that young teen boy or girl finally become young man or woman. Anxieties are rife and when film's protagonist Greta (Bethany Whitmore) becoming a woman and experiencing new feelings such as meeting boys. The film seems to target those awkward moments, charming, nostalgic

In this vibrant portrayal of Australian adolescence, Greta Driscoll’s bubble of obscure loserdom is burst when her parents throw her a surprise 15th birthday party and invite the whole school! Perfectly content being a wallflower, suddenly Greta’s flung far from her comfort zone into a distant, parallel place — a strange world that’s a little frightening and a lot weird, but only there can she find herself. Equal measures Wes Anderson and Lewis Carroll, GIRL ASLEEP is an enchanting journey into the absurd — and sometimes scary — depths of the teenage mind.

There's no word on who may distribute this in UK&Ireland but with London Film Festival only 9 weeks away, I wouldn't at all surprised if this will screen there and possibly early 2017 festivals too.

Girl Asleep is set for 8th September Australian cinema release, with USA getting a limited 30th September release.
